Energy, Environment, and Information Technology

EMERTEC Research and Development Ltd. was founded in 1988 with the spirit of combining consulting services with latest research developments. EMERTEC, which is fully owned and managed by petroleum engineers, provides technical assistance with a pool of top-notch Petroleum Engineers, Chemical Engineers, Geophysicists, Geologists, and others who have established themselves through many research and development activities.  We undertake unique consulting activities - unique because we include training of local engineers/scientists at no extra charge and we ensure that by the time we complete the study the local expertise is good enough to carry out their own studies. Recently, we have added formal training (in the form of Masters and PhD) in this process from the world renowned prestigious institutions in North America.  This human resource development combined with the application of latest technologies in any consulting services make EMERTEC the company in the world that offer this unique combination in consulting services.

EMERTEC uses the services of a number of experts who are considered to be the best in their disciplines.  Following are some of the experts who provide services to EMERTEC Research and Development.

Prof. R. Islam is a professor of Civil and Resource Engineering at Dalhousie University, Canada. During 2000 through early 2005, Dr. Islam held the Killam Research Chair in Oil and Gas, which was the only Petroleum Engineering Research Chair in Canada. Prior to this, Dr. Islam was the first NRCan (Natural Resources Canada) professor of engineering at the University of Regina, where he was the program leader of petroleum engineering. He was instrumental in establishing the Petroleum Technology Research Center (PTRC) and the Greenhouse Gas Technology Center (GTC) in Regina. In his 20 years of professional career, Dr. Islam has written over 700 research articles on various modeling, energy, environmental, and communication related topics. During the same period, he received more than 20 million dollars in institutional and over 10 million dollars in individual research grants, and employed over 150 post-doctoral fellows, and graduate and undergraduate research students. In recognition of his research and teaching excellence, he has received a number of international awards, including Einstein Gold Medal of Honor, and Crown and Eagle Gold Medal for both of which Dr. Islam is the first recipient in Canada. He taught virtually all petroleum engineering courses, ranging from drilling engineering to reservoir engineering and improved oil recovery. He gave numerous invited speeches and some dozen workshops and short courses in many countries. At present, he employs dozens of post-doc, PhD and MASc students, and  research associates. He recently published five books on the topic of reservoir simulation (Gulf Publishing), sustainable technology development and resource management (Nova Science Publisher), Knowledge economics (Nova Science Publishers), inherently sustainable technologies (Nova Science Publishers) and sustainable petroleum operations (Gulf Publishing), and has completed several more books on topics ranging from global warming to sustainable energy pricing.

Dr. Islam is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nature Science and Sustainable Technology and serves on the editorial boards of a number of international journals.  In the past, he was involved as editor, associate editor, or editorial board member of SPE Res. Eng., J. Pet. Sci. Eng., J Can. Pet. Tech., AIChE J, Pet. Sci. Tech., Energy Sources, etc. and reviewed papers for some two dozen scholarly journals.  He has been an active member of a number of international societies.

Dr. V. Serebryakov, Geophysicist, has 25 years of experience in well logging and signal processing.  Has worked extensively for more than 20 oil and gas reservoirs in Russia, Tartarstan, Daigastan, Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota and others.

Prof. G.V. Chilingar, Petroleum Geologist, has more than 35 years of extensive experience in research and development projects in more than 30 countries.  He is considered to be the most published petroleum geologist in the world.  He is credited to discovering an oil field in Iran that was named after him.  He has published more than 50 books and numerous technical papers in various aspects of petroleum geology and reservoir characterization.  He is the founder of several petroleum journals, including J. Pet. Sci. Eng. (Elsevier), Energy Sources, etc.

Other experts include Petroleum Engineers, Economists, HR Development and Management experts with many years of experience and currently active in Industrial Research and HR Development in North America.
